TURNKEY AUTOMATED SYSTEMS
Defect Detection
Advanced vision inspection technology detects paint defects on full vehicle exteriors, ensuring high-speed, high-accuracy quality control on moving production lines.
SMARTInspect®
One of the highest densities of manual labor in the automotive plant is the paint inspection line. The SMARTInspect® system uses the latest image processing techniques to do the inline inspection at the highest production rates.
- Most automated inspection systems require the vehicle to stop and then be scanned. The SMARTInspect® system scans, identifies, and classifies defects as the vehicle moves through the scanning ring, at the plant line speed.
- We designed the most advanced defect detection system to use readily available, off-the-shelf hardware, reducing overall costs and lead times on spare parts. It also means your maintenance techs don't need specialized training on hardware used on our system.
- Each camera light pair is mounted on a fully adjustable bracket that is designed to lock securely to ensure cameras maintain their position through the model life cycle. When the next model change comes, cameras are easily adjusted or added without major costly upgrades. Once we set it, you can forget it.

J3D Eagle Eye Vision Tunnel
J3D Vision specializes in advanced in-line inspection systems for 100% production monitoring, with a focus on automating visual inspections and providing real-time feedback. Their proprietary technology, designed for high-speed automotive manufacturing, enables seamless inspection of paint defects on moving car bodies without line modifications, handling speeds up to 150 jph and adaptable for higher rates. It is the only solution capable of inspecting entire vehicles, including edge defects, characteristic lines, and misaligned parts, without being affected by vibrations or requiring conveyor changes. With patented technology in Spain and pending European approval, J3D Vision’s adaptable inspection system extends beyond automotive applications to various surfaces and components
- Performs inspections without stopping, repositioning, or reducing the speed of vehicle bodies, allowing simultaneous inspection of consecutive units and adapting to line speed variations.
- Identifies and classifies various defects, including orange peel, dirt, dents, drops, peeling paint, scratches, sanding marks, and uncovered surfaces.
- Capable of detecting defects along edges and characteristic lines of the vehicle body, ensuring thorough quality assessment.
Micro Epsilon - reflectCONTROL
Encore integrates the Micro Epsilon reflectCONTROL for full body paint defect inspections. The reflectCONTROL sensers are robotically mounted and requires a stop station. These robotic systems enable the detection, three-dimensional measurement and classification of typical paint defects. Impressing with high precision and repeatability, the reflectCONTROL systems can be combined with automatic processing and marking systems. The inspection system achieves outstanding area coverage and detects defects up to <1 mm from the edges. It also measures design edges and is flexible enough to allow easy adaption to the opening of movable components such as doors and flaps. The unique 3D reconstruction feature allows for each defect to be assigned characteristics such as height, depth and volume. The data acquired is stored in an XML file and is available to the user at any time.
- Delivers exceptional accuracy with a z-axis repeatability of ±1 µm, capable of detecting minor deviations greater than 10 nm.
- Generates both 2D intensity, amplitude, and curvature images, as well as 3D point clouds, allowing for thorough evaluation of surface topology.
- Designed for both stationary use and robot-guided measurements, enabling flexible integration into production lines or standalone inspection stations.
